At your first clinic visit

1.) CT scan of sinuses

Before you see Dr. Anstead you will have a CT scan of your sinuses performed. For your convenience we have a CT scanner in-office at both the Seattle and Edmonds locations. Your CT scan of your sinuses will be taken on the same day as the appointment or any time before your first appointment.

2.) History form completion

Dr. Anstead wants to know absolutely everything about your sinus history to attempt to find the root cause of your sinus issues. This requires filling out an extensive sinus health history form before your first appointment so that Dr. Anstead can review it with you during your visit.

3.) Nasal Endoscopy

As part of a thorough physical exam, Dr. Anstead performs Nasal Endoscopy and possible nasopharyngoscopy to fully access your sinus pathophysiology. Nasal endoscopy is where the surgeon examines your nose with a small camera with a light. It takes about 60 seconds to perform and allows us to see the cause of your sinonasal symptoms.

4.) Sinus cultures

Sinus cultures are often taken if needed to direct antibiotic treatment of your sinuses.

5.) Allergy testing

Allergy testing may often be ordered if Allergy is a possible contributing factor to your sinus disease.

6.) Plan for success!

During your clinic visit Dr. Anstead will review with you your CT scan images and teach you how to read the scan. She will also review with you the findings on your nasal endoscopy. This information, together with your sinus health history, will allow Dr. Anstead to lay out for you the possible options you have going forward for your sinus care. This could include medication, supplements, diet and lifestyle changes, and/or sinus surgery. Dr. Anstead philosophy is that the patient absolutely gets to direct their own care and that her role is to provide the best possible options.
