What is a Fellowship?

After medical school, Dr. Anstead completed 5 years of surgical residency training in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and is Board Certified by the Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

After spending 5 years training in all aspects of general ENT, Dr. Anstead then went on to complete a one-year fellowship with Dr. Roy Casiano in Sinus and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at the University of Miami, FL. By performing the most complex surgeries alongside some of the best Sinus and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgeons in the world, Dr. Anstead was able to hone her skills to become an expert sinus surgeon.

After fellowship in 2010, Dr. Anstead was recruited to Seattle to build one of the first Sinus and Endoscopic Skull Base Centers in the region. Several years later, Dr. Anstead completed a second Fellowship in Integrative Medicine. This included two years of training with Dr. Andrew Weil at the University of Arizona, which allowed Dr. Anstead to further expand her understanding of health and healing to address the whole patient. This training was then further augmented by the intensive education she pursued at the Institute for Functional Medicine to further understand the root cause of disease.

Dr. Anstead is now a Certified Practitioner by the Institute for Functional Medicine.
